Self-regulating heat cable has a special conductive core between the two bus wires which makes the core more conductive when colder ambient conditions realize; therefore the heating cable will increase its wattage per unit as per to the ambient temperature decreasing. This feature provides good functions on the freeze protection of pipes in the winter or for keeping gutters clear of ice formations. Opposite to the above phenomenon, this type of cable may lower its unit power output under warmer conditions, while the higher temperature makes the special core less conductive.
